French Quarter Magazine D.C. Inaugural Gathering: Culture, Diplomacy and Distinction is a free music event hosted by the Embassy of France in Washington, D.C. It takes place Monday, April 20, 2026 · 6:00 PM – 8:30 PM EDT at La Maison Française. Admission is free. Nearest Metro: 30-min walk from Rosslyn (Blue/Orange/Silver).
French Quarter Magazine marks its 12th anniversary in the United States with an inaugural Washington gathering bringing together diplomatic corps members, Members of Congress, authors, advocates, and cultural leaders. The evening celebrates FQM's commitment to storytelling, cultural dialogue, and international collaboration from a French and business perspective.
The event will unveil The Originals Issue, FQM's signature edition dedicated to changemakers and trailblazers, alongside a presentation of "Killed to Order" by Jan Jekielek, FQM's Author of the Year. A featured conversation between Jekielek, Senior Editor and host of American Thought Leaders, and Isabelle Karamooz, Founder and CEO of FQM, will be followed by audience Q&A.
A highlight includes an award ceremony honoring New York Times bestselling author Jan Jekielek for his contributions to journalism and human rights advocacy. His book "Killed to Order" addresses forced organ harvesting and underscores the importance of intellectual courage in defending fundamental freedoms. The program concludes with remarks from distinguished guests, ambassadors, and embassy representatives, followed by a cocktail reception. The evening features live musical performances and curated cultural presentations, including a Paraguayan harpist celebrating Paraguay's rich cultural heritage.
