The Embassy of France, in partnership with The French American Piano Society, presents a special recital by internationally acclaimed pianist Claire-Marie Le Guay. "Bach, Up Close" is more than a recital—it's a journey through the architecture of sound that explores the profound connections between the works of J.S. Bach, Antonio Vivaldi, and celebrated contemporary French composer Thierry Escaich.
Claire-Marie Le Guay is a major figure on the international classical music scene, having won multiple international competitions and earned recognition as a Victoires de la Musique laureate. She has performed at prestigious venues including Carnegie Hall, the Philharmonie de Paris, and Suntory Hall in Tokyo. Known for her "inexhaustible musical curiosity" and described by Gramophone as making a "masterly contribution," she is particularly renowned for her recordings of Liszt, Bach, and Escaich.
The evening will feature a curated selection of solo piano works that reveal the spiritual depth and rhythmic vitality uniting these masters across time. As an Eisenhower Fellow and professor at the Paris Conservatory, Le Guay brings both technical mastery and deep scholarly understanding to this unique musical dialogue between the Baroque era and contemporary French creation.
