Explore the vibrant Mexican tradition of cartonería in this hands-on workshop led by specialist Ana Elisa Romo. Participants will create their very own 4-foot-tall (1.3-meter) Catrina figure from scratch.
Designed for teens and adults of all experience levels, this workshop is an invitation to reconnect with creativity and the joy of making by hand. Over eight four-hour sessions, you will learn to build your Catrina using traditional materials such as paper, cardboard, wire, papier-mâché paste, and acrylic paint. Each participant will have the freedom to develop a complete and unique piece.
This workshop is hosted by the Mexican Cultural Institute and takes place at their beautiful venue at 2829 16th St NW, Washington, DC 20009. It's a wonderful opportunity to delve into Mexican folk art and create a significant piece of art.
