Join us for an intimate and moving evening celebrating the centenary of Mexican poet Jaime Sabines. "Noche de Sabines" honors a voice that continues to resonate across generations and cultures through verses that speak of love, loss, family, and everyday life.
Poets José Gutiérrez and Luna Corbetta, along with other invited poets, will recite a selection of Sabines's work and share their own poetry. The readings will be accompanied by piano interludes performed by Derran Eaddy. This event invites the Latino, Hispanic, and international communities to share in the beauty of Mexican poetry, music, and culture.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to visit the Institute's Day of the Dead altar, on display throughout November. By bringing together poetry, music, and this cherished Mexican tradition, the evening encourages us to remember those we love and to feel the power of art in keeping their presence alive. The event takes place at the Mexican Cultural Institute in Washington, D.C.
