Reflections on Frida Kahlo | Mirrors of the Soul: Cataloguing Frida’s Wardrobe

About

Join the Mexican Cultural Institute, in partnership with Shakespeare Theatre Company, for a special symposium exploring the life, identity, and artistic legacy of Frida Kahlo.

Minister Marta Turok, Executive Director of the Mexican Cultural Institute, will present "Mirrors of the Soul: Cataloguing Frida’s Wardrobe." This visual exploration delves into Frida’s eclectic clothing, personal style, and the evolution of her identity. The presentation will be followed by a conversation and Q&A moderated by Drew Lichtenberg, Artistic Director of Shakespeare Theatre Company.

Inspired by questions raised in STC’s production FRIDA … A SELF-PORTRAIT by Vanessa Severo, this program invites attendees to reflect on how Frida’s self-presentation shaped her identity and blurred the boundaries between life and art.

The event takes place at the Mexican Cultural Institute, located at 2829 16th St NW, Washington, DC 20009. This is a paid event, and registration is available through the provided link.
