The Walsh-García Collection Exhibit

The Mexican Cultural Institute in Washington, D.C. is pleased to welcome the Walsh-García Collection, a remarkable collection of more than 450 books and materials offering a unique glimpse into one family’s longstanding relationship with Mexico, its history, and cultural heritage.

This extensive library was generously donated by Eugene Walsh García on June 18, 2026. The collection's origins trace back to Eugene's maternal grandfather, a native of Campeche, who began acquiring significant titles such as by Diego Rivera and by Alfonso Caso. It even includes an 1898 first edition of (Alphabetical Compilation of Maya Language Terms), one of the Maya dictionaries compiled during Mexico's colonial era.
